I wouldn't bring it up directly, just start discussing future career plans with him and he will likely offer to assist once you mention your interest in finance. If not, he probably wants you to try to do things on your own first, so I would try to clarify that you are already making some effort before the discussion.
So he's at Credit Suisse? lol, yeah just be casual about it. Ask him what it is like to go through SA and maybe he'll hear your story and get you a SA interview. It's not like you're asking for FT associate or analyst. If for some odd reason you do bad in SA the worst case scenario is you don't get an offer for FT. Not that big of deal really.
I wont decline or agree, but what makes you think that he's at Credit Suisse?
It's a joke. We always assume the less "prestige" when people put more than one BB. AKA "just got an offer from a BB (THINK GS, MS, HSBC) LOL.
Haha. Well let's cross Credit Suisse off the list. I wasn't aware of that joke but thanks for letting me in on it.
As others have mentioned, you should definitely talk about it with him and get his advice on starting a career in finance, etc. realistically though, I think the best you can except is an opportunity to network and perhaps an interview. even the best of connection isn't going to get you an IBD job unless you actually are the most qualified person for it or your parents own a business big enough for the bank to want to give you a spot in exchange for future business (unfortunately, this happens more than you would think / want and certain banks are more guilty than others).
Completely agree. Didn't think of the parent business thing though. If the op is asking for a SA it is more probable that his uncle can help him than if he were to ask for a associate or analyst FT job.
SA means summer analyst? FT means full time? I'm a sophomore in college now, so it would be for a summer internship. I've been doing more reading and talking with my family and he has more power in Asia (duh) so the more likely scenario would be for me to be in Hong Kong.
