Financial Economics or Econometrics?
I'm a Senior Econ major. I'm deciding what classes I should take for my last semester. Saw these two and thought they were interesting. Just wondering which one would be more relevant to take. Trying to get into an AM or Research role if that helps.
The Financial Economics course seems to be more valuation based of particular markets (Equity, Debt, Derivatives), Interest Rates, ROR, etc.., whereas the Econometrics course is Statistical modeling of data and computer software models look to be involved.
The difficulty level is about the same so that's not too much of a factor.
Financial Economics hands down. Econometrics is borderline worthless unless you wish to pursue graduate studies in economics.
