First-year in college, is working as a part-time teller worth?

Hi,

I spoke with a senior who got a FT offer at GS, which is almost unheard of at my school (lower semi-target). I asked him for advice and what I can do my freshman summer, and he said do what he did: work as a PT teller at a bank, and ask if you could "intern" in their loans department.

Would this provide valuable experience on my resume when applying to MM IB internships? Or is there anything else I could do? Any advice would be appreciated.
