Fitch Ratings Analyst Interview - What to expect? (Originally Posted: 09/02/2015)
I applied to a CMBS Analyst position with Fitch Ratings a couple weeks ago and received a response today asking for a short phone interview with HR. I'm assuming this will be mostly behavioral but any suggestions on what technical questions may pop up?
I understand the basics of securitization as I have been playing the role of trustee creating cash flow models for investors and working with loan level data. Any suggestions on what to cover even for such a short interview?
Know everything about credit, rates, etc. Just basic stuff so at least they know you know your shit.
The initial short interview with HR will cover why you are interested in the position. There will likely be no technical questions. Mainly just gauging your interest in the position and your past experiences.

I've moved on to the next round where I will start with a written assessment and then interview 4 (2 upper, 1 mid, and 1 analyst) members of the group afterword. The total time is expected to be around 4 hours.
Does anyone out there have any insight on the written assessment or what technicals could be expected for a cmbs analyst? I know the basics but I'm just trying to cover all my bases here.
How did it go? Also do you know if they are still recruiting for SA?

Know the basics of securitization, know the basics and risks of CMBS. Know why rating agencies do what they do and how they estimate a rating.
