FT 21 Recruitment

Am I screwed?

I am a senior at a semi-target school. I worked at a MM IB bank this summer that only gave an offer out to 1/5 interns in my specific coverage group. This was incredibly disappointing considering how few openings there are for new FT analysts in the light of covid. I have been trying to recruit for any banking positions at this point,  but it is starting to feel hopeless. There are so many people in my position and so few jobs that are left to apply to. I know that this sounds like a pity party but I have been grinding applications for months and need advice.

Are other people feeling this way or in this position?

Do people think there will be more positions opening after the election?

People who have gotten hired for FT 21 after no return offer what did you do?

Is my only option going to get my MSF and wait it out another year?

Thanks!

I'm literally in the EXACT same situation as you. I haven't really put any thought into getting my MSF, because it would absolutely suck to have to go to school again and go through the whole networking process once again. Are more people starting to consider doing that? Some analysts I've talked to think that more spots will open up in IB this spring, but I can't tell if that is true or if they're just saying that to be nice.

Yeah, a lot of my friends that are in similar positions are looking into MSF just to buy another year. I have heard the same thing about the Spring but I just feel like there are not going to many if any positions that open back up. How is it coming for you?
