FT Partners Interview

Hello, I have an FT Partners Technical interview coming up in a few days, and I was wondering if anyone might have some advice for industry-specific Technical questions regarding Fintechs?

I have my basic IB technicals down but am having trouble finding specific valuation methods or deal processes related to Fintech.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights and advice for preparing for a technical interview with FT Partners, especially focusing on Fintech:

Key Areas to Focus On:

  1. Technical Questions:

    • Expect the interview to be quite technical. Brush up on your basic investment banking technicals, but also dive deeper into Fintech-specific valuation methods.
    • Be prepared to discuss Fintech valuation techniques, which might include unique metrics and multiples relevant to the industry.
  2. Fintech Valuation Methods:

    • EV/Subscribers: This is a common multiple used in tech and Fintech valuations, especially for companies with subscription-based models.
    • EV/Pageviews: Another tech-specific multiple that might be relevant depending on the business model of the Fintech company.
    • LTV/CAC (Lifetime Value/Customer Acquisition Cost): This is crucial for understanding the profitability and growth potential of Fintech companies.
    • Net ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue): Important for assessing the revenue stability and growth of subscription-based Fintech companies.
  3. Industry Trends and Drivers:

    • Stay updated on current trends in the Fintech industry. This includes understanding the competitive landscape, market size, historical and projected growth, and key drivers.
    • Be ready to discuss how the industry has evolved over the years and your predictions for future changes.
  4. Cool Companies and Competitive Landscape:

    • Identify a few innovative Fintech companies and understand their business models, competitive advantages, and market positions.
    • Be able to place these companies within the broader themes of the Fintech industry and discuss their roles and impacts.

Additional Tips:

  • Reach Out to Current Analysts: As suggested in the WSO threads, consider reaching out to current or former FT Partners analysts on LinkedIn. They might provide valuable insights and tips specific to the interview process.
  • Mock Interviews and Practice: Utilize resources like mock interviews and technical question notes available on WSO to practice and refine your responses.

By focusing on these areas and leveraging the resources available on WSO, you should be well-prepared for your FT Partners technical interview. Good luck!
