FT Recruiting Question

I wanted to network for FT recruiting (Co25), but I was curious on if I should have my 2024SA on my resume. I am not gonna explicitly mention FT recruiting in my networking emails or calls (phrase it as a curious college student wanting to learn more about IB/Industry). I wanted to know if this could hurt me (ie. some analyst/asso/vp) calling up my firm and telling them I was networking with them.

Based on the context provided, here are a few points to consider:

  1. Networking Early: It's great that you're thinking about networking early. However, it's important to be careful not to give off the impression that you're not giving your current group a chance. It's generally advised to start networking after at least the first few weeks of your SA.

  2. Cold Emails: If you were to start networking now, your cold emails should be different than when you were recruiting for SA. You should focus on catching up and discussing their FT hiring needs.

  3. Return Offer: The return offer from your SA bank is crucial. It's the golden ticket to open doors elsewhere. If you're planning on recruiting FT, you should make it seem like you are very interested in the group you're currently with.

  4. Networking During SA: If you're unhappy with your current group/location/brand and want to do FT recruiting at other banks, it's paramount to get the return offer at your current shop. You should focus on networking with people you already know from SA recruiting, but also try to develop new contacts.

  5. Timing: For those pursuing SA, you need to be ready for interviews by the end of next month. Networking events for EB usually start late July/early August with first rounds happening early to mid August. Interviews for BB occur around late August to early September.

Remember, it's important to be persistent and hungry with the networking. But also, be careful not to let your current firm know that you're planning on recruiting FT elsewhere.
