Getting first Finance experience

I am a rising sophomore (c/o '27) at a semi-target school, with a 3.75 GPA in Biology + Maths; I have recently become enamored with breaking into investment banking, but I have zero experience in finance whatsoever.

I am wondering what my thought process should be not only for going about securing a Summer 2026 IB internship (as this is much better documented), but securing any finance internship for next summer -- partly to begin setting myself apart as a candidate that is a STEM student with relevant finance experience  and partly to protect myself from being driven to insanity in the event I don't have an internship next summer. I am currently working on technical skills on my own, but I want to focus some of my limited bandwidth on securing this experience; I have no structure for doing so.

I am very happy to take any tip, criticism, or question you shoot my way -- send me a DM if you'd like more case-specific info. Appreciate any and all help.
