Glocap Search -> Legit?

So I had an informational interview at the Glocap offices. The woman was nice, said she had lots of openings I fit well for. Does anyone know anything about them? I have heard other people say this place is a joke and no job has ever come to be. Has anyone heard of them ever successfully placing someone?

Nope. The analysts that I used to work with would look at the postings/job descriptions and try to use other colleagues/recruiters/headhunters to figure out which firm it was with and find another way to apply because no one we knew ever made it through.

I know this topic is a bit old, but I felt I should share my experience with them, as it seems to be wildly different than the other posters'. Glocap is really a great company. In the past few months of my search, I had responded to a variety of search firms but only the team at Glocap gave me the impression that they were actually invested in me, and placing me with the right opportunity. They were responsive, thoughtful, and professional.

In general conversation with friends, I have been telling about my very positive experience with Glocap. I have a friend who recently lost his job in the HR sector. I recommended he contact Glocap, as I know they have an HR placement service as well.

I think Glocap gets a bad rap unfairly. They worked hard to get me my job.

Did this job happen to involve working at Glocap?

Don't think I've ever read a post that was more obviously written by the employee of a company...

Wow. I didn't realize being eloquent in my post would have me flagged as a plant. Next time I'll be brief and use plebeian words and sentence structure more befitting the internet. All I was trying to get across was that I happen to have a great experience with them. Is that really so hard to believe? If everyone in NY had a horrible time working with them, they'd be out of business. I was just providing the other side of the coin, but if this is how you treat new forum members, I'll go ahead and post elsewhere.

I posted my rez on there years ago - and was "considered and declined" for positions I thought I was golden for. On the other hand, from dealing with a bunch of these recruiters -- I think it's pretty obvious to me that they are in business to fill positions. Only way they get paid. Not everyone they place will have a rez posted on their site because they obviously use word cloud / key word aggregaters etc to find talent.

I think all we ever hear about in threads like this are those of us who are pissed because we got denied from all their positions. That said - they do seem to have high-quality positions -- I am just clearly not high-quality employment like I thought. I never got called into them for a meeting.

Still - they seem legit to me - if your resume has ALL the requirements and prerequisites - I think you got a shot. And then you probably don;t have the time to post about it.

Like others said - use every recruiter you can find - and every other resource as well -- and that's what will work in the end.

Yeah, everyone I have talked has had no luck with Glocap. I know one recruiting firm that got my friend an interview with a hedgefund it was green something. Ill repost once I remember the name.

I used Glocap before and overall it was a great experience. I went to the second round interview for a strategy consulting firm. I would work with them again without hesitation.

Not sure how Glocap makes money. They tend to decline all candidates for jobs that they qualify for. I once received an interview from Glocap which was like winning the lotto since most of my peers have been declined for every position they applied to. You can not even submit a cover letter detailing your experience. To be honest, if you graduated from an ivy league college and have great experience, you would think that you would have a shot. Unfortunately, that's not the case with Glocap. I think they mostly place office support staff rather than investment professionals. I would totally not use this service. If you see a Glocap posting.. Try to figure out the client and use a different agency. It's probably your best bet.

I had no luck with Glocap either. I heard they're just super selective. Unless you fit perfectly for their role, they don't talk to you.
