Goldman Background Check - school expulsion
I’ve been given an offer from Goldman. The background check asks if I’ve ever been expelled from a college program in the past 5 years. I was removed from the business program of my school in freshman year, but was able to transfer to another program within the same school. I have since graduated with a 3.4 GPA, and I have no criminal record or anything else incriminating. My question is if I admit to being expelled on the background check, does that pretty much mean I’m screwed and my offer will be rescinded? Thanks.
You weren't expelled, you were removed from a particular program. Expulsion entails involuntary removal from an entire university's student body. Do not mark that you were expelled, just be prepared to explain the details if it were to come up.
Being removed from a program is far different than expulsion - especially freshman year. If it's set up like my school, odds are it was a "pre-admittance" program for the school, as you were an "intended business" major.
I wouldn't mark it.
