How do I improve my applications?

I'm a recent grad out of a non-target with a 3.5 GPA and some relevant internship experience. I've had a lot of trouble finding my first job and while I haven't lost hope yet, I'm starting to think about what sort of things I can do to improve my resume/application and make myself more employable over the span of my career. What can I do to make myself stand out from the applicant pool?

I'm preparing to take the CFA level 1 in December but what else can I dedicate my spare time to that will make me more of an attractive candidate in finance?

I'm looking for skills to learn and/or courses to take, not formatting help
