How do you reference a mutual Linkedin connection in an email?

If I am connected to Person A and Person A is connected to Person B, who I want to speak to and does not use their Linkedin. How do I go about referencing that common connection in an email?

Just say you came across his profile on LinkedIn unless you were referred. It will be weird if you try to mention you reached out because there was a mutual connection, because then why they ask the mutual connection about you and you were not referred, will be weird.

Don't do it. This seems really weird, especially since the person you want connect with doesn't even use LinkedIn. Who know how they know each other. I have so many random requests which sometimes I accept, and sometimes I don't. Last thing you want to do is mention someone who they don't really know well enough in the first place...Or worse what if they're boys and you hardly know the mutual connection.......

I'd just send the email without mentioning the common connection.
