How to deal with this firm ?

So I had an interview last monday with a VC firm. They said they'd get back to me in a week but they haven't. I've emailed them twice so far, one email to the secretary, the other to the VP that interviewed me. Neither have responded.

Should I try calling them next week or let it go ? Also, what's the protocol in situations like these ? I'm just a little surprised they can't respond to a simple email and let me know what the situation is. It takes literally 5 seconds.

It doesn't sound encouraging, but give them another week. If you don't hear back from them in one more week, try once more. After that drop it. It's rude to interview and not get back to the candidate one way or another, but pestering them won't change the situation. If they loved you, they'd have responded within the specified timeframe.

No fuck that, I say call them.

People usually get a good laugh at the candidates who just don't get the point and keep emailing/calling to see... but those are usually candidates who were told theres not an opening for them right now. They should atleast answer you. If they haven't already though, that means they are either assholes or you're still in the running but they're reviewing other candidates. I'd suggest allowing 2-3 weeks to pass between your last email, then call the VP and say "yo, what the fuck?" Well not in so many words, but you get the point.

yea, I'm going to wait a week and then call them. I just don't understand why they can't just reply to a simple email and let me know what's going on. The only thing I can think of is that they want to interview others before getting back to me.

Similar situation here. The difference is I got back within 15 minutes from the MD who interviewed me and was told he was away on a trip.

I think if I were you, I would call them up and check in with them where are you in the hiring process and whether anything else they might need to support your candidacy. As long as you did it polite and professional, it won't hurt your chances.

From personal experience, VCs are pretty bad about responding (compared to banks, PE, etc). The partners are probably running around several networking events, chilling with their friends, connecting with investors. They have a lot of distractions. A week to an interviewee like you who stares at your phone all day (I did that too) will feel like a month, but to them it'll feel like a day. Give it another 2 weeks.
