How to stand out during S&T internships? How to get a return offer?

Hi Everyone! I'm currently thinking about pursuing S&T both as an internship and a long term career. My main worry with pursuing S&T is that you cannot stand out in the internship doing projects. I have been told the internship is mostly networking for 10 weeks and doing you're best to be likable and fit in with a desk. My question is how do I stand out? I'm worried I might not be able to get a return offer by networking and would rather have people see my work in some capacity. I'm worried I'm not sociable enough to just network for 10 weeks. I honestly am super passionate about the market and love the fast-paced and intense nature of S&T. I also love the variability of S&T and how your day moves with the market. I'm super hardworking and ready to do the work. I have been doing well networking, I'm just worried about it being the only way to stand out during an internship.
