How to train my mind to love the game?

I am a first year at a LO AM and I must confess that I find my job interesting when I'm in the office but I don't read business news or do much extra due diligence outside what my manager tells me to do.

Although I'm naturally an inquisitive and analytical person (I love reading/learning new things), which has won me good performance reviews so far, I know that my lack of deep passion for my career ensures I'll never climb too far in my role - the best PMs I've noticed are people who are deeply married to the game. Given the headwinds on active management, it seems less likely that you can coast unless you spend a majority of your thoughts after work on investing related stuff. How do I instill this drive into myself? Is it even possible?
