Went through an interview process where I spoke with a 6+ analysts, MD's and the CEO. HR emailed me saying for a couple of "internal reasons" the director didn't make a decision on hiring. They also included "...at this point you are the only analyst candidate under consideration." I'm taking it like a rejection but I've never seen this type of response before. Any thoughts on what to do/expect in the future?

I got the feeling that the director who wanted to hire a new analyst was told to wait? Is it a possibility that he interviewed all these candidates only to be told that he can't hire?
