I Hope Not
I thought I would share this becuase I found this particularly humerous. I went to grab coffee with one of my fellow classmates who works for a boutique now and his manager and two co-workers came along. When engaging in greetings, one fellow states his first name followed by "Harvard Grad". Is this common practice within the banking industry?
Literal Translation...First Name...Douchebag
If you went to a great school...don't flaunt it
So what do you do? -I work for an investment banking firm. Oh okay; you are like my brother, he works for Edward Jones. -No, a college degree is required in my profession
I once introduced myself to a client as awsome...while wearing a bowtie...
The only time I'v heard that was from some Bain consultants. Nobody does that, it sounds like you are borrowing credibility and no-one cares anyways.
You guys are complete misunderstanding this. Its not common practice, but often times its a subtle request by the speaker to be slapped in the face, preferably with a little bit of ball-sweat residue on your palm.
