I want to get into Private Equity and am looking for oppoertunities

I am an undergraduate Senior at Babson College graduating with a BS in Business Administration in May 2019. I am very serious about having a career in Private Equity and would like the opportunity to work in that space once I graduate. I do not have much corporate experience in the Finance sector but I understand investments and have taken a few high level classes on it. I read a lot of investment books and am trying to learn as much as I can. I am willing to do anything to work in this space as it intrigues me a lot and I believe I have the skills to do it! The other barrier that I face is that I only have a 2.9 GPA. I am willing to do free work for now to prove myself but I ultimate would like a great job in Private Equity once I graduate.

Best,

You should work in IB for a few years and then lateral to PE. Since you don't have much finance experience, it will be hard to go right into PE.

good point

Then from banking, (assuming you get in), go into private equity. If you can't get into banking, try AM or something like that at local shops, as they are easier to get in than the big companies.

"MWTM1" I am willing to do anything to work in this space

With a 2.9, any employer who hears this will think "he's willing to do anything... except study?"

If you're serious, get your gpa over 3.0 before you graduate. You still have a very tough road ahead before you can even sniff PE, but sub-3 will make it nearly impossible.
