IB from Mathematics undergrad?

I will be starting my university studies next year. In the future I'd like to do the 2+2+2 route or stay in IB, PE, whichever I'll like. I can decide between getting a finance or a mathematics degree. Which one would be more useful? If I choose math I can get a data analyst specialization. If my plan doesn't work out, and I can't break into HF can I get into a good MBA program with a math degree aswell?

Double major if you can, math has important implications in a quantitative role, but you’ll need to know how to code as well (not the hardest thing in the world). If you had to choose though just pick up a major in math and minor in finance. Math is far more difficult than finance, and as a biological sciences major myself working in the field I can say the math major will take you farther and give you a more valuable work ethic.

As a current Accounting and Finance student I wish I would have went with a math degree. As you said an MBA would be a great thing if you aren’t able to start where you would like. As I’ve been talking with people in banking and PE for the most part think the MBA is less important if you already have a business oriented bachelors. If you decide on math join the finance orgs on campus and look into some sort of business minor.
