Impact of an involuntary discharge from previous firm on future job search
I am a new grad this year but I was discharged by my previous firm after three weeks of employment. They left a "discharged -Inadequate Performance" comment on my U5 after only one single assessment. Although I think it is a bit unfair, I started to looking for new jobs, and I am worried about my record on FINRA. I am wondering if it will make it harder for me to find another job in the industry. Would it be fine for me to explain the situation to the recruiter?
Call a lawyer and get the language changed ASAP
Really appreciate your advice! Do you think I should contact the company CCO first or just let the lawyer to contact them directly?
Since your U5 is already filed, you will have to find a U5 lawyer and sue the company through FINRA arbitration. The process takes 9 months and costs $20K.
Thank you. I will contact the lawyer on Monday.
