Intentionally triggering non-compete?

so I'm thinking about ways to intentionally trigger my noncompete agreement ahead of going to grad school this fall and getting paid to do nothing for a few months. anyone had any experience with this? feel free to PM me

Consider the bigger picture on this. I spoke with a head hunter about this and here's what he had to say..

Legally: The NCA might be unenforceable. Get a copy of it to a lawyer, not your friend at the golfclub. pay a few hundred to get some formal understanding of what you and can't do. If you dont pay for this advice you have no legal recourse if you follow it and get stuffed.

Reputation: Doing over some small company, to work for a bigger one, noone will particularly care. Personally I'd let the newer employer know about it. However HR talk to each other, they knew each other at college etc. before going into their current jobs and pass on stories. You don't want your name appearing there. If it's only for a few months, I'd think long and hard before making this decision.

Sounds like that would piss off the people you are going to work for now. Why would you want to give your current employer a reason not to like you?
