International student pursuing a STEM masters with no finance experience

Background

I am an international student pursuing STEM masters at an Ivy league/M7 b-school. I have no prior experience in finance, apart from just dabbling around in the market on my own (In my home country).

My undergrad was engineering, and I, later on, worked as a software dev full-time for 2 years. Neither of which are remotely related to finance.

My current coursework covers some math and finance, but not in great detail.

Interests

Since I have some background in software development, math, and engineering, I am inclined towards pursuing a career in quant finance. But due to the sheer competition and preference for MSFE/MSCF and Ph.D.'s, I might not even be considered for a quant position.

My major interest is in pursuing a career in Sales and Trading or Asset Management.

How?

How do I try to obtain an internship in either of these fields for this Summer? What should my focus and/or approach be?
