First two weeks were so easy. Mine was orientation for first week, and I slept through it (it was on zoom)

Elaborating here:

1) constant dick sucking drives me nuts. “Will do thank you very much” “great feedback, will work on them” thrown around across different levels rlly makes me sick of corporate environment

2)inefficiencies. This job would be so much better if the msg from the top can be clearly conveyed down to the analyst or interns. we are playing telephone game at every turn.

3)no respect for personal time. You have to be on your shit 24/7, which is the opposite from college. No explanation needed here. You will not know how much it suck until you are actually there.

Now the positive sides:

1) you do become a better worker/employee. Even I’m only a few weeks in I know that I’ve corrected some bad old habits. You’ll just learn how to make shit work bc problems come up all the time and you need to figure it out someway somehow.

2)the money and prestige is real. ppl have respect for you bc it’s a tough job and I kind of consider it as a badge of honor

3) you do learn about interesting companies/industry. I got to know so much stuff that I never thought existed. Def lots of knowledge to absorb

4) this is kind of firm/group dependent. But I’d say I like the ppl I work with are driven and chill. It’s def a better set of crowds than any industry I worked at

Working this many hours a week hasn’t been as bad as I feared before (I know interns have a golden parachute but still).

I worked 65 my first week and 75 last week. As long as I get my 6 hours of sleep I’m good. Luckily my team isn’t hierarchical at all and FaceTime isn’t a big deal. My protected time has stayed protected and my team is awesome and supportive. They throw me on as much as they can and refrain from giving me stupid bs busy work.

I’ve been able to get 4-5 workouts in a week with the downtime I get around 6-7pm while everyone getting home and transitioning to WFH for the night.

Experience has been awesome, I’m on 2 live deals in the CIM/CIP stage and we are about to go to market in a few weeks so seeing that process, sitting through client calls and watching the deal progress is nice. In past internships I’ve been bored af and twirling my thumbs around after I do the ~2-3 hours of work a day they give me, I love being busy throughout the day.

Been averaging like 13-14 hours a day so I know it could be a lot worse but so far it’s great. I think it’s all abt the attitude, my team likes that I’m positive.

Cheers

Lol guys y’all gotta wait till longer than just two weeks in to actually experience what it’s like. After 2 weeks, interns barely know the excel shortcuts and are barely doing anything on their own.
