Is it normal to not be interviewed for first round after attending an in person investment banking summer analyst recruiting event?

Hi,

Almost every firm I've applied to for a summer analyst role has offered me a first round interview. However, there is one firm that selected me for an in person event, but I wasn't even offered a first round. Before improving my resume and answers during networking calls/first round interviews, I applied to a lot of insight events that were in person and this firm is the only one to accept me for this cycle.

1. Is it normal to not be interviewed for first round after attending an investment banking summer analyst recruiting event? I'm just a little bit surprised considering the costs of travel and the time I spent with their analysts, associates, up to multiple MDs during the event, that I ultimately wasn't interviewed. Even more when I think about the fact that I've had first rounds at every other firm I've applied to. If this is the case, I can try to speak to people who have received offers and figure out how they were able to create a strong first round/first impression.

2. Do you know what could cause this? Do you think I could have made such a bad impression that it would result in this?

3. Is it okay if I asked what kind of person (for instance, analyst within my IB coverage group, any associate, just HR people etc.) at the company selected me for this event?
