Is it over for me

Rising junior, was pursuing SWE but found out I’d enjoy trading or similar titles in finance. Currently studying cs at target with a 3.95 and working at energy trading risk management firm as a SWE. Unfamiliar with finance recruiting timelines; any advice is appreciated.

You’re 20 and think it’s over? Dude! I know people who have switched into the industry at 30. It’s obviously not super common but it’s really all about self determination.

Get a trading internship next summer, and if that fails just try again the following year. And if you’re really struggling, even with those rock solid grades, then go for a MS in FinMath or FinEng. You won’t need the MS degree but it could help if you’ve really hit the wall. Also, don’t be one of those JaneStreet or bust types, there are plenty of second and third tier firms that will give you great opportunities.
