Is it too late to start networking in April?
I go to a semi target school with a decent GPA and extracurricular activities on my resume. I am an econ major and I thought I wanted to go to grad school (e.g. law or PhD) but I got involved in various finance projects and started to have thought recently that I want to pursue IB. I did have a finance internship freshman summer like randomly through connections so I have that under my belt as well. I know Citi is done basically and so is DB, but there are also plenty of BB firms with deadlines in last August or early September. If I reach out to the Analysts right now are they gonna think I'm an idiot for waiting till April to start networking? I am just a bit worried because I know a lot of IB crazed people were networking well into last winter break or something. If I can have a shot I am gonna start sending those damn emails asap.
you are mistaken. Citi is just done with diversity. they still have non-diversity and non-target left. also, same for DB. they don’t even close for more than a week now.
What do you mean by "they don't even close for more than a week now?" I haven't seen a "due date" on their online applications anywhere. I know diversity is "due" on the 17th but when is non-diversity "due?"
The first wave ends on 16th I believe. You don't have to be diversity to apply now.
No I know that, but I'm planning on applying after the 16th, just to continue networking and get my referrals in (know 16th is the first wave for diversity).. is there a due date though aside from the 16th?
DB hasn't even started to recruit, they just have their applications open, but no interviews yet
Get your apps in ASAP and send out some emails. You might not get the response you'd have gotten in January, but there are still plenty of spots in classes.
You are fine just gotta start grinding. Half the BB's apps are not even open yet, and there are ton of other firms that are just opening (or still open). Just start sending out emails and knocking out apps.

Was wondering the same thing for 2021 SA. Any analysts/associates willing to share their input? How do you feel about students reaching out for the first time now? Is it too late?
