Is this change to my resume BS?

Hey all, someone I know recently got sacked after his boss found out he was interviewing. According to him, his interviewer somehow met up with his boss and the interviewer let slip that my friend was interviewing.

Now I am a little paranoid.

Was wondering how I can obscure my identity when carrying out my search. Here are some that I have thought of. Please tell me if this would fly with HR.

  1. Shorten the name of the company. For example, instead of Berkley Fusion Associates, I would call it BFA Limited?
  2. Give myself a different name. Pretty much like how Michael Sorrentino is also known as The Situation. If quizzed as to why the name is different, I would just say that is the name my friends know me by.

Any other ideas to suggest?

Thanks.

There is such a small likelihood of this happening and I think you're overreacting.

If you shorten the name of the firm and/or disguise your name; two things will happen. i) you'll not get past first rounds because of the obscure brand name, or ii) you'll awkwardly have to explain why you thought this was a good idea to an employee at the firm = automatic ding.

Yeap, as I mentioned OP is definitely over-reacting.

"Sunshine Funshine" Unless your friend has an "at-will" employment agreement, he might be able to get a wrongful termination lawsuit in motion.

Yeah precisely man. You could get fired for no reason at all.
