Jefferies 2021 - S&T or IB ?

Background: I am currently doing a Sophomore internship in asset management. University: Semi Target
Currently deciding between 2 divisions at Jefferies: S&T and Investment Banking. I feel confident that I will be able to do well well in the interview process in either one, because I've done a lot of networking + know my technicals very well. The problem is, I have to decide on one of the 2. I was hoping I could get some useful opinions/ insight from you guys, so that I can make a final decision. I feel like IB has a better rep at Jefferies (better exit opps), and I find IB very interesting in general. The problem is I also love how fastpaced S&T is, plus the shorter hours, and the fact that the Market is something that really "motivates" me. However, I haven't really heard much about Jefferies S&T, so I was wondering if it is a good place to do that. Thanks.

doesn’t matter which is “better”, what will you want to get out of bed for? it’s no secret that IB is a safer career path than S&T, but the nature of the job isn’t as well suited for some people.

I chose S&T because I love markets and thoroughly enjoy talking about trade ideas, debating topics, and constructing theses. I’m way more apt to be excited to get up and go navigate markets for 12 hours than I am pouring over models and pitchbooks until midnight.

Bottom line— if you have a true S&T personality, you’ll be better suited to do that than banking, even if banking is a more stable career paths
