Job Application Idiocy

So I'm in France on a year exchange for school. My exchange school is a well-regarded school, but my French is not very good, and the language barrier is eliminating a lot of opportunities before I can even apply. My M&A prof really likes me, and I convinced her to do some job hunting on my behalf. So she contacts me and gives me the email of a Director at a BB and says I can get in touch with him.

So I write him, attach my CV, and send the mail. Right away, I see theres a failure to deliver notice, so I email my prof back, and she emails me again with the right address. I email the director again. About an hour later I notice that there is an email from the director - that arrived 15 minutes after I sent mine. So I'm pretty excited thinking that this guy was actually waiting for my email, and then I read it, and it says only:

Thanks for that. CV has not been attached... an absolute classic...

So when I sent it the second time I had forgotten to attach my CV. I wrote him back again with my CV and some lame attempt at humour about how if he could give me a job, I would accept any jokes about the omission with good grace.

Now have not heard back from him, and am sure I have blown my best chance so far (although there certainly wasn't a job on the table by any means).

So my questions are two: Should I have bothered emailing back at all, and does anyone else have any similar bonehead moves to share with me to make me feel slightly less stupid. Also feel free to tell me what a bonehead move this was.

Once I burbed during an interview, which was pretty retarded and stupid. Hope that helps. Just follow up after a week or so.
