...I think you guys look too much into these insignificant things. No body gives a shit what kind of shoes you wear as long as its not ridiculous. Same concept applies to shirt, belt, tie, etc.
I assure you your interviewer wouldn't give enough shit to look at your shoes. Even tho ppl on this board tend to think they do.

Those are a nice pair...I have a similar set, but I'd consider these more business casual. Lace it up.

Loafers are for people and CEO's who want to "loaf" around. I wouldn't wear these to the interview, definitely lace it up.

I think you guys are giving too much attention to unimportant details. No interviewer cares enough to analyze your shoes. As long as its not ridiculous, its fine. Same concept applies to ties, belts, shirts, etc.

Agree with the above. I wore loafers to my interviews and nobody cared.

And for some reason, Americans seem to think black shoes go with blue suits...THEY DON'T. Since Britain tends to be the place most people steal their formal fashion sense from, just look to the British for what they wear with blue suits......brown shoes.

You should always go with a lace-up for anything formal i.e. interviews. It is paying attention to the "unimportant details" that can potentially set you apart. I heard a story about a guy that blew an interview way and was then told at the end he would not be getting the job because his shoes were not polished, and if he was not going to take the time to polish his shoes before an interview how could they (the employer) be sure he could demonstrate the attention to detail necessary for a job in IB.

I think the point with these over-the-top stories about paying attention to detail is to make sure you're focused on looking good. IMHO, it's better to be focused too much on your appearance than not at all. While the shoe story probably isn't real, I guarantee everybody that hears it is either going to call bullshit or go home and make sure their dress shoes are polished pre-interview.
