Last minute interviews

Thoughts on getting called for a last minute interview with less than 24 hours notice? Did a phone interview last week which went well, was later approached about in-person but with barely 24 hours notice to schedule.

Would you take it while needing to move commitments around in your schedule? Not sure if i should suck it up and make it happen. I've still got my current job which i'm not exactly junior in anymore, i'm just trying to think of what excuse i could make for dipping out on some last minute appointment after just coming back to the office from the holidays, earlier this week.

I already asked for another day but interviewer is traveling and won't be in town, they didn't mention when he'd be back though.
