Lateraling before end of assoc program?

Moved to Boston for an associate role at a GE shop post 2 years of tech banking. Shop is alright but I hate Boston and want to be back in NYC. Assoc program is 3 years and the shop is well respected.

Question - obviously lateral market is a bit dry right now, but is it ok to move after 2 years? Will I have to start over as an associate? Does it look bad?

Very cognizant I’m in a lucky seat and the culture at my shop is otherwise solid, just having a tough time adjusting to Boston
