Looking for Real Estate Investment opportunties in NYC - Associate / Senior Analyst level; Any ideas?

Looking for advice on how to get into the NYC real estate game. Currently out in California in a primary market working as an Associate for a fund that is the US RE arm of a foreign IB for the past year. Prior experience was 3 years in AM for a public REIT on the east coast. Total experience post undergrad = 4 years. Looking to move to NYC and work full time while going to NYU for my MSRE part-time (already accepted).

Open to suggestions. Haven't had too much luck so far. Couple interviews and flew once to NYC for an in person, but that's about it (didn't get it). Using SelectLeaders and LinkedIn and reaching out to people whenever I can.

PM if you want to know more specifics.
