Lost a return offer for financial consulting, what are my best options?

I interned at a midsize financial consulting firm last summer and received a return offer, which I accepted in September 2023. I went through my senior year of college with this return offer, so I was not recruiting for other positions during this time. There was a big round of layoffs at the firm in May 2024, leading them to rescind my return offer a week after I graduated college.

I have had a rough time trying to get back into a consulting role, as the timing of the rescinded offer did not allow me to go through the normal hiring cycle for the consulting industry (I would have to start recruiting for jobs that start in Summer/Fall 2025, and I cannot afford to wait that long to start working). I am considering pivoting to a different financial career, and I wanted input on what careers would be the best to pivot into following a consulting internship. I have always found the investment banking/private equity career path to be interesting, but as a recent college grad I feel like I missed the boat there as I know the early internship experiences that those paths usually require. Is there anything adjacent to that sort of field that I could look into? Or are there other opportunities to get back into the consulting industry that wouldn't require waiting for the next hiring cycle?
