Lunch interview

Hi there,

I have a final round next week - two case studies / into / followed by a lunch. anyone have any tips to navigate the lunch section? its a fixed income trading house (sales role), I drink ofc but don't wanna drink in an interview setting in case it may offend but also don't wanna look like someone who can't entertain clients if I don't drink etc

1. Non-drinkers are more common than you think + not as if your client/interviewer will explicitly call you out or care.

2. Drinking in an interview setting is probably the worst thing you can do

I’ve had drinks in interviews and have gotten the job. Usually they order a drink first and then if you want one you could get the same or a drink of your choice. If they order first and get water or something else, don’t order a drink.

Of course, I was exaggerating - it is completely possible to get a job doing that.

My point was rather it probably becomes harder to maintain a serious profile, running the risk of becoming too comfortable etc. (especially as someone inexperienced) & further, whether you drink or not isn't exactly a make or break variable in the interview.
