Major Ethical Dilemma
Hey guys,
I am in a major bind right now. I'm close to finishing up fall recruiting, and I have a few offers that need to be responded to in the next two weeks. Some of them are actually quite attractive, and I have a clear ranking and a firm A.
However, I agreed to intern with firm B this winter. I'd really like to work at this second place, as it's in an industry that I like, and should be a good place to start a career. However, I will not have an offer with them until late January, if the internship goes well.
I've asked both sides to compromise: my current offers to extend for two months, and the new firm to interview me now. Neither has budged.
So my question is: what now? Should I take the first offer and see what happens? The second firm didn't say renege, but it implied that it may be okay if I have no other options. If I accept A, should I tell B that I accepted A, or keep it on the down low? I already listed B on my resume when I interviewed with A, although they never asked me about it.
Or should I be completely moral and not accept anything, and take a gamble? Again, A is a great option. I just want to have my cake and eat it too.
Signed, one confused monkey.
