Managing exploding offer from Company A, while Company B takes their time

Hello everyone,

I am an analyst in CRE with 2 years of debt-side experience, who is hoping to specialize in affordable housing creation.

On Friday I received an offer from a top CDFI that specializes in affordable housing, in their fund management / investor relations team. The offer expires this Friday. However, I am also waiting to hear back from a MM bank in their affordable housing underwriting team. They have already informed me (a full week ago) that they are preparing a formal job offer, but the offer seems to be stalling in the approval phase. To make matters worse, the original recruiter is OOO this entire week, so their responsiveness has been slow to say the least. I already followed up with the MM bank to let them know about the exploding offer.

I would strongly prefer not to accept and then renege on the first offer, especially because the aforementioned MM bank is an anchor-investor within the CDFI.

If there anything else I can do to either delay the first offer or expedite the second offer? I am still undecided between the two options, but want to be able to weigh both offers before making a decision.

Any advice here would be appreciated!
