MD Agreed to Meet In-person--How to Prepare

Hello all,

I am interested in pursuing IB Analyst positions for 2025 and have been reaching out to lots of MDs and VPs at relevant banks. I finally secured an in-person meeting with an MD, but he can meet <24 hours from now and I want to know how to effectively use my time to prepare. Spending time to read about PU&I (his group)/other relevant bank updates, but I want to know what else to study/ask him.

I'd be so appreciative of any suggestions you can provide, and have a great 4th weekend!

Read through his LinkedIn and make sure to come up with questions about any pivots he made (e.g. switching banks, switching careers via MBA), ask about what interested him in PUI. Much harder to know coming in beforehand but if he is from same state, played same sport, did similar clubs - a great way to separate yourself. Also will impress him if you have some intelligent questions about his most recent deal.

Different person from OP here; what are some good places to find information on deals? I've found that some companies straight-up list them (in which case, great), but what if they don't? Thanks!

If you have access to Pitchbook, they have deals that the company was listed as an advisor on. One trick I've used when I didn't have it was seeing what deal announcements the MD has liked/posted on their LinkedIn, and then googling that deal to confirm their bank was on it.
