Media/TV/Tech Research

I'll admit I don't know much about finance, but money makes the world go round. I wonder if my experience/skillset will be useful to any wall street firms, but I have no idea where to start. I pretty much run the IT dept, at this charity that I work at, so I am a conduit to both end users and senior leaders within the organization around technical explanations. I pretty much research whatever they need me to do tech wise and I either do it within budget constraints or say that it can't be done. The budget at the place has limited my tech experience to basically just installing various software/databases and maintaining them. So I'm not moving forward in my tech career. I'm looking to get a job in media research or tech research. My goal is to get a masters in media studies by 2020, and then somehow find my way to a job, but I don't really know where to go for someone with no wall st or media exp. Any advice? Do any firms do this type of work? I assume they do.
