More difficult: college to IB or IB to PE?

Just curious which field is harder to break into- going from undergrad to IB or from IB analyst to PE associate. Obviously a lot of variables between target vs non target, bank/group, etc. But generally speaking, is it pretty doable to get into PE if you are a decent IB analyst?
