Moving to NYC in your 30s

I’ve recently received an offer in nyc that would be great for my career but I am debating whether it is worth it as someone in their 30s. I love nyc and I think it’s awesome in your 20s but not sure how difficult the move would be at my age. I currently live in the south and am married with a dog and plan to start having kids in the next few years. Is it worth doing a 2+ year banking stint in nyc for the opportunities or should I hold out for a smaller southern bank. Obviously the job market sucks right now which is also making me lean towards taking it.

I’d love to hear from others who have made the move.

I moved from another country to here in my mid 30s actually.  Was still single at the time but I imagine your significant other would be a primary consideration; is he/she currently working and would they be able to find a new job in NYC / be okay with not working?  I certainly think that working on wall street, even temporarily, is a feather in your cap that can only help down the road for other jobs (even if not in NYC).  And there are plenty of neat places in Brooklyn etc that are nicer for a 30-something to live in although Jersey city is right there as well and can save you some coin.  It will kill any dating chances but that's not an issue for you either way.
