I got an offer for an unpaid internship at a broker-dealer but I'm having doubts if it's worth it. They expect you to do a lot of cold calling, but there's also a "training program" where they sponsor you for your Series 7 & 63. I searched on WSO and found these:

Apparently being licensed isn't marketable. Anyone have experience with this firm? Or does anyone think it sounds like it's worthwhile? I'm most concerned about exit ops in the fall. I just want to be sure I won't end up at a boiler room.
By the way, I'm a junior at a target, ok GPA, no finance experience, good extracurriculars. I bankified my resume and that got me some interviews.
I know someone who works there, but he does not go to a target or semi target, and worst of all, he's an ass. You will probably spend all summer cold calling doctors in Idaho, trying to pitch them crappy stocks that they don't want.
If you are at a target, companies will come on campus in the fall. Go unpaid at a real company, not some Boiler Room style broker dealer.
Id doesn't make any sense to cold call all summer.Having Series 7&63 is a good thing yet licenses alone won't take you far. Try to find a job where cold calling is not a major task or at least get an internship with a company that pays for it. When I worked in a brokerage, our summer interns where getting paid 10 bucks an hour not to mention that my firm had a much better reputation and name. (plus they were sponsored for 7&63. )
I was offered an internship with them over the school year. I was a bit surprised b/c they started asking me when to start right after the interview. Should I take it? I have other interviews coming up, but they kind of want me to get back to them quickly.
good things: I was actually pretty impressed with their office, which was really big.

I need some prep advice for my interview with them. I mean its a broker interview so I'm guessing they're gonna be real tough just like in a ib interview. I know trading is not for the weak of heart and requires successful and quick decision making,but if there's anyone out there with first hand experience in a similar situation, please help!
broker is not trading.... brokers are a dying breed
ya, i just googled it. Not a trading position at all. More like an FA position. My advice is to sell your sales skills such as client acquisition and retention. FA people care about people skills and building assets under management. Know the markets but more focus on your reasoning for why you want to be there and why you would be good at it.

yes, an internship is definitely worth it. Its a boutique... Nothing special, but a number of people in the business will know the name and they do do real (albeit small) deals

Potential lead at National Securities for an internship... I searched here, but the info is from 2007 and 2008, nothing since.
Any info on this firm? I checked out the website and they seemed to be in alot of reverse buyouts in 2007 but their data/info is slightly outdated. Their Biotech Group seems to push alot of IPOs but im more interested on their "cred" and/or if theyve been heard of.
