Networked, interviewed, dinged. What next?

After speaking with my network--their advice and help--I still didn't get an offer from their firm because of a poor interview. So, what now? Besides the embarrassment of having people know you did poorly in an interview, how will it look if I reached out for information on other opportunities and potential interviews at the same firm. Is it smart to follow up and stay in touch with the same network who helped you prior to an interview after getting dinged? If so, any ideas on the best way to speak to them given the situation?

Thanks!

You need to:

  1. Follow-up and get specific feedback
  2. Practice incorporating said feedback in order to cover your weaknesses
  3. Cast a wider net
  4. Rinse and repeat until you get an offer.

OttoReadmore is absolutely right. Absolutely follow up with those connections. I interviewed for my first finance position with an alumni, bombed the hell out of it since I didn't prepare, and he still gave me feedback after he told me I didn't get it. It's embarrassing at first, but just keep your confidence up. I would recommend shooting them an email and saying thank you for their consideration and asking what turned them off about you.You get several shots at this, so getting feedback is crucial to nailing the next interview for your dream position.

Does anyone care that I got dinged? People respect strength so I'm worried that my weak interview performance will make those contacts lose respect for me. Btw not all of the interviews were conducted by my contact.
