Networking Advice - Junior at a top 15 school

So I need a little bit of help with networking. I'm a Junior at a top 15 school with good grades (3.5+) and a few internships (2 BB PWM, and am currently doing a very useful Asset Management internship). Aside from my alumni database and networking events, I have a somewhat distant connection with an MD at an elite boutique (he's my uncle's nephew/Godson). I spoke with him at the end of last semester, got some basic advice and asked to follow-up with lunch or something, but that never ended up happening. I, stupidly, neglected to really keep in touch with him since then because I was too concerned with school and internships and honestly just worried that he's too busy. I'm sure he's still willing to talk to me, as he's incredibly nice and the first time we talked he said he'd be willing to help me with both the companies he's worked for. What I'm wondering is what would be the best course of action for me to take in the coming months in reference to this connection that can very easily give me in-depth information about the industry, the recruiting process, and possibly references at other banks. Obviously, I know I need to contact him as soon as possible, but I'm sort of confused as to where I stand. I've already spoken to him briefly, asked about his background, gotten to know him personally a little bit, but I never was straightforward about internships/references because I had more time before recruiting. I'm going to e-mail him this week and possibly ask to grab coffee/lunch again in the coming weeks. Is there anything in particular I should say/address in my e-mail? Sorry this is a little long-winded and perhaps a little confusing, but, frankly, I'm a little nervous about potentially screwing up what could be a very helpful contact.
