Networking before I start my internship?

Hi everyone! I am a rising senior and have a summer internship that starts in July. It got pushed back a month and is now only 5 weeks long, but am still super grateful to have an internship. I was just wondering if I should be networking with the group before my start date in July? And if there is any other advice you can give me to prepare for my virtual internship? Thanks so much!

I think networking is always a good idea. Just be gentle on other people's time. You can start by reaching out to alumni working both at your bank and peers and say "I'm starting my internship at XYZ Bank in a few months. I want to get your advice and words of wisdom, since you were in my shoes once and learned a lot of good lessons. I know it's a challenging industry, and kudos to you for crushing it. So I'd like to learn from you." Many people will be open to help. Those that are not willing to help just ignore. Focus on those that have a greater willingness to contribute - for whatever reason.

Whats a good amount of people to be in contact with within your firm. 5, 10, 20 people?
