Networking During COVID - How to Proceed?

Had first calls with analysts/associates at banks a few months ago. How do I continue the networking and establish a more solid connection?

Do I send congrats on deals/updates on my life? Ask to get on a second call? If I got on a second call what do I even ask? I would ask for coffee chats but can't now for COVID obvious reasons.

I would really appreciate your advice WSO, thanks.

ah okay. should I ask them for a favor, maybe a question about their industry or to intro me to someone else on the team? or just leave it as a here's what I'm doing, recently applied to ___ and hope to keep you updated on the app process, have a great rest of the summer

I would probably go with the second option of just updating them and letting them know you applied to the firm. However, if you're having a tough time getting in touch with other people at the bank then I would ask for referrals. I wouldn't necessarily ask them questions about their industry and so on, via email, because they are going to be annoyed and wont want to write out a response. If you get on the phone with more people at the bank then you could ask them those types of questions

Also, if any people at banks could chip in with any short advice I'd appreciate it. Don't want to waste more of your time on calls/emails that don't make sense
