Not happy, thinking about switching careers
Hey guys I'm in my late twenties and currently working back office at a BB as an accountant looking at invoices all day long. I'm working on a temp basis full time and not as an employee.
I hate my job, it's boring and repetitive.
I studied finance in college and I was pre-med as well.
I'm thinking about going back into healthcare to be a physicians assistant. They make about a 100k almost always and have super secure jobs.
I'm tired of the hustle in finance, trying to claw your way to the top. Surviving layoffs, office politics, the constant fear of being let go.
In finance to make a 100k you have to be above the rest, a superstar but in healthcare you can be average and make a 100k.
I could always get an mba later on and try to get a front office position, but the lack of job security and a clear upward path to 100k puts me off.
I'm going through a dilemma because I enjoy finance and I think I'd enjoy a front office position. But I'm not sure I could handle the lack of job security and constant stress of having to hustle and out do your co workers.
Anyone ever thought about changing into healthcare from finance?
Everyone needs to find their own path. Why not be an MD rather than a PA?
This just sounds like you're throwing in the towel for anything competitive. Is that really what you want?
I have a buddy who is on a similar page. Studied pre-med in UG and did trading at a eliqute boutique for a year and realized he hated it. Now he's going to med school. Finance isn't for everyone.
