NY or Denver for Big 4 Advisory

Hey guys,

I'm a junior accounting major and this upcoming semester is the major recruiting cycle for internship offers (90% of which lead to FT offers). All of the firms ask for your top two locations of preference and expect that the office you intern at will be the place you continue onto full time. I know my top two offices are NYC and Denver, but I'm having trouble picking between them. I feel like living in NYC on a salary of 70-75k is going to be tough and I would definitely be able to do more and enjoy my time more in Denver (salary of ~60k). However, I know that I eventually want to transition out of Advisory (probably Consulting or IB) and that working in NYC would give me more transferable experience and make it easier to do so.

Does anyone have any advice or other things I should consider before making a choice? I've been told that once you tell the firms your preference you shouldn't change it. Thanks in advance.
