Opportunity to intern with the FDIC in NYC

Hi, I have been offered a summer internship at the FDIC in New York City. I would be working in risk management. I am currently a junior interested in finance and public policy. However, I think that I would like to start my career in the private sector. Does anyone know how working for the FDIC this summer might help or hurt my chances of landing a job in finance following graduation? Thanks in advance for your input.

Generally speaking, you should try to intern in the type of role that you want to accept full time. That said, you really can't go wrong having a name that everyone recognizes on your resume. Really just depends on what it is you're trying to break into long-term.
