People who escaped from a FoF: What you did + Where you went?

Been stuck in a PE FoF for about 5 years. Previously was from corporate banking.

Started thinking of moving after 3 years but have not had any success in the past 2 years. Have been trying to move into IB / Corporate Development - M&A / VC. Been through interviews but never succeeded.

Kinda desperate as this role has been sucking the life out of me. It is more mindless than what I did at corporate banking. Have contacted the MD I previously worked back in corporate banking to see if she will take me back but said there was a hiring freeze so that isn't possible.

Also, got my CFA thinking it will help but that shit did nothing for me.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated too. Thanks.
